The Dell XPS 13 9315: A Disappointing Update

The XPS 13 has long been a perennial favorite among ultraportable laptops, but the new 2022 edition leaves us feeling surprisingly let down.

Here's what we didn't like about the XPS 13 9315:

The price: The XPS 13 starts at $999, but our test configuration with a 12th Gen Intel Core i5-1230U, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of SSD storage cost $1049. That's a lot to pay for a laptop with a 13.4-inch display, especially when there are other laptops with similar specs available for less money.

The performance: The XPS 13's performance was underwhelming. In our tests, it was slower than other laptops with similar specs, and it struggled to keep up with demanding tasks like video editing and gaming.

The battery life: The XPS 13's battery life was also disappointing. In our tests, it lasted for just over 7 hours of continuous use, which is less than many other ultraportable laptops.

Overall, the Dell XPS 13 9315 is a disappointing update to a classic laptop. It's overpriced, underpowered, and has poor battery life. We recommend looking elsewhere if you're in the market for a new ultraportable laptop.
