Herman Cain, a former Republican presidential candidate and supporter of President Donald Trump, has died at the age of 74.
Cain died on Thursday morning from complications related to COVID-19, according to a statement from his family.
Cain was a successful businessman who founded Godfather's Pizza in 1982. He ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012, but withdrew from the race after facing allegations of sexual harassment.
Cain was a vocal supporter of Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign. He also served as co-chair of Trump's transition team before being removed from the position.
Cain's death has been met with tributes from both Republicans and Democrats.
"Herman Cain was a true American success story," said President Trump in a statement. "He was a great businessman and a wonderful man."
"Herman Cain was a passionate conservative and a strong supporter of our country," said Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).
"Herman Cain was a good man who will be deeply missed," said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).
